Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will

Demonstrate Foundational knowledge and understanding of the book of Isaiah in the English text

B. Be able to

1. Outline the ‘introductory’ issues in understanding Isaiah

2. Trace the key themes and theological teachings of Isaiah

3. Comment on the meaning of selected passages of the English text of Isaiah

C. Be in a position to

1. Relating the teaching of Isaiah to contemporary Christian living and ministry contexts

Content

An exegetical and thematic survey of the three major sections of the Book of Isaiah.

About 18 chapters should be set for detailed exegesis.  These should be evenly distributed between chapters 1–39 and 40–66.
